Arewa youths criticise Cardinal Onaiyekan over comments on INEC Chair
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has challenged the Bishop Emeritus of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, for the remarks he made about Mahmood Yakubu, the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Onaiyekan had criticised Yakubu for deceiving Nigerians and not being honest in the conduct of the 2023 elections.
The Cardinal accused Yakubu of not telling Nigerians the truth when he knew things didn’t go well.
Even though the opposition was contesting President Bola Tinubu’s victory in court, the priest argued that the truth should win out.
In retaliation, the AYCF described Onaiyekan’s remarks as “dishonest and pretentiousness” in a statement issued by its president, Shettima Yerima.
