Senate has approved the sum of nine hundred and eighty two point seven billion naira (N982.7 billion) as Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2021.
The Supplementary Budget was passed following a clause by clause consideration of the appropriation bill in the committee of supply during plenary on Wednesday.
This amount is an increase of eight seven billion naira above the eight hundred and ninety five billion naira initially submitted to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari for approval.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Jibrin Barau, in his presentation, explained that one hundred and twenty three billion naira is for recurrent non-event expenditure while eight hundred and fifty nine billion naira is for contribution to the development fund for capital expenditure.
In a remark, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, noted that the fund will amongst other things help intensify the fight against insecurity and aid procurement and administration of Covid-19 vaccines.
