The Cross River Private Hospital Regulatory Board has raised an alarm over the high rate of medical quackery in the state.
Chairman of the board, Dr Norbert Mogar, says fraudulent or ignorant medical practices were being carried out by non-doctors and unqualified personnel.
He describes the situation as worrisome.
After inspecting some private medical facilities in the state, he disclosed that more than 80 of the hospitals visited were operated by quacks, while 50 of them were yet to be registered with the state’s Ministry of Health.
He added that 70 of them were equally not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
