Angry students of Osun state polytechnic Iree and the institution’s members of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, have put the school gate under lock and key, protesting removal of the institution’s rector, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo.
The State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke had reportedly suspended the embattled rector, Dr.Tajudeen Odetayo and allegedly replaced him by his kinsman, Dr Alabi Adeyemi.

The protesters laid siege at the gate of the polytechnic main entrance as early as 7:30 on Tuesday morning carrying different placards with different inscriptions to register their displeasure against the removal of the embattled rector.
The Polytechnic ASUP chairman, Fatai Afolabi berated Dr Odetayo’s removal, saying his replacement is against the institution’s laid down procedure for appointment.
Addressing journalists on the issue, the state commissioner for education, Oluwole Adedipo said the rector has just been suspended pending outcome of investigative report on allegations against him from committee that is going to be set up in 72 hours.
