Less than 40 million Nigerians pay taxes— RMAFC
The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Muhammad Shehu, has said that Nigerians must try to pay their taxes to boost tax collection and improve service delivery.
Less than 40 million Nigerians, he pointed out, are currently subject to taxes and pay them.
“That is too low for a country that has more than 200 million populations,” he stated.
The RMAFC chairman also claimed that software had been developed by the commission to promote transparency in income generation and sharing among the three tiers of government.
He praised the idea behind President Bola Tinubu’s recent move to organise a Tax Reform Committee.
