Adoke’s trial : EFCC’s non-disclosure of names stalls proceedings

by Kunle Awosiyan

The trial of a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), was stalled at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.

This was due to the failure of the prosecution to disclose the name of its proposed first witness in the list of witnesses and file the summary of the witness’ statement in the proof of evidence served on the defendants ahead.

Adoke and his co-defendant, Aliyu Abubakar, were re-arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on 14 amended counts of money laundering bordering on the controversial OPL 245 transaction, also known as the Malabu Oil deal

Meanwhile, Justice Inyang Ekwo gave the prosecution 24 hours to file and serve all the necessary documents demanded by the prosecution and adjourned till August 13 for the continuation of trial.
