Vincent Kompany has retired as a player to become manager of Anderlecht.
The former Manchester City captain joined the Belgian side in a player-manager role in May 2019 but has now announced his retirement as a player.
However, he stepped down from the managerial side of things to focus on playing after Anderlecht endured their worst start to a season since 1998-99.
Frank Vercauteren took over as head coach, but endured a frosty relationship with Kompany, according to local reports.
Vercauteren has now left Anderlecht.
