The Lagos State Government has threatened to put an end to unsanitary practices in the operation and management of slaughterhouses and abattoirs in order to minimize their harmful effects on the health of residents of the state.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, TUNJI BELLO stated this during a one-day workshop for abattoir operators at the Lagos State Agric Complex, Oko Oba, Agege.

He said the workshop became necessary in order to improve the hygiene status of abattoirs across the state and to prevent continuous pollution of the environment.
