COVID-19: FG to engage 60,000 volunteers to monitor school safe reopening

Ahead of the reopening of schools, the Federal Government is deploying 60, 000 Environmental Health
Emergency Volunteers to schools in the 774 Local Government Areas across
the country.

Minister of Environment, Mohammad Abubakar says the deployment is that COVID-19 protocols are strictly adhered
to as schools reopen on the 20th of October Correspondent Aishat Olaoye completes the story.

The Federal Government, last week ordered unity schools across the country to reopen on the 20th October.

The Ministry of the environment is playing a part in ensure safety protocols are adhered to by embedding sixty thousand volunteers in the 774 local governments across the Nation

The health officers will assist schools to enforce basic safety measures; hand washing, compulsory use of face mask, temperature checks as well as physical distancing.

The 6,000 volunteers will work with stakeholders at the national level and their impact will be monitored and evaluated by the Federal Government.
