Group blames police for continued detention of Journalist, Tom Ohia

by Kunle Awosiyan

The last may not have been heard of the arrest and detention of a seventy two year old journalist, Tom Ohia, a Magazine Publisher.

Mr Ohia had accused Nigeria’s Minister of State for Power Goddy Agba of bribing the Nigeria police in 2012 to suppress investigations into the Dana plane crash when he was Group General Manager at the NNPC.

But a non governmental organisation, the Centre for Peace, Transparency and Accountability, says it has fresh details about the arrest and detention of the journalist.

In a statement on Sunday, its Head of Media, Edwin Olorunfemi, said after an investigation it launched, it realised that the minister is not connected to the arrest and detention of the journalist.

The Nigeria Union of journalists has called for his release.
