Rivers govt seals off gas station over explosion

by Kunle Awosiyan

The Rivers State government has sealed off a privately owned gas station following a fire incident that led to the death of one person and injured six others.

The fire occurred while a gas tanker was discharging product at the station.

The Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources Dr. Peter Medee says the action was taken to enable the government and other agencies to carry out investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire.

In the meantime, the manager of the gas plant Timothy Udofia explains that contrary to media reports, the facility has approved safety procedures certified by the regulatory agencies of the government.
