New service chief: 20 generals may go on retirement

All things being equal, the appointment of new service CHIEFS by President Muhammadu Buhari could see at least, 20 members of courses 34 and 35 of the Nigerian Army proceed on retirement

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday announced that “President Muhammadu Buhari had accepted the immediate resignation of the service chiefs, and their retirement from service.

The new appointees are:

Major-General Lucky Irabor – Chief of Defence Staff who takes over from General Abayomi Olonisakin;

Major-General I. Attahiru – Chief of Army Staff replaces Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai

Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo – Chief of Naval Staff takes over from Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas;

Air-Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao – Chief of Air Staff replaces Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

President Buhari congratulates the new Service Chiefs, and charges them to be loyal and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.”
