The National Assembly has assured that it would consider and pass the new Electoral Law when plenary resumes on the 9th
of February 2021.
Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, alongside the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Kabiru Gaya, and co-chair from the House of Representatives, Aishatu Dukku, gave this assurance at the presentation of the draft report on the Bill
by the Technical Team that worked on the document.
They are confident that the scheduled passage of the Electoral Amendment Bill by the first quarter of 2021 is a realistic target.
On his part, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, is happy that
soon the country will have a reformed electoral system.
