Banditry in Niger: gunmen kill 21 people, abduct 40

Twenty-one persons have been reportedly killed and forty kidnapped in renewed bandits attack on Shiroro communities in Niger state on Tuesday morning.

An eye witness who is also an indigene of Shiroro local government, Galadima Salisu while confirming the incident told newsmen in a telephone interview that unless governments at all levels come to their aid, he is afraid that the area could be taken over by bandits who operate at will.

The incident was confirmed by the secretary to the state government Ahmed Matane, but he was however silence on the casualty figures. Police is yet to confirm the attack
