Mohamed Bazoum has been declared winner of the just concluded presidential election in Niger Republic
Sixty one year old Bazoum, who is the candidate of the ruling party and a former interior minister of the country had 55.75% of the vote while the opposition candidate Mahamane Ousmane had 44.25%.
He is set to succeed President Mahamdou Issoufou, who is stepping down after two five-year terms.
The election is however being contested by Supporters of defeated opposition candidate Ousmane was also a former president of the country
