Businessman docked for forgery and dealing in adulterated oil

A Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded in police custody, a businessman, Chidi Nwanyanwu, over adulteration of engine oil and inscribing forged Standard Organisation of Nigeria, S.O.N logos on the product.

Justice Maureen Onyetenu made the order following Nwanyanwu’s arraignment alongside his two firms, Two Ocean Oil Limited and Hi-Power Lubricants.

In a four count charge, the S.O.N accused the defendants of dealing in adulterated engine oil, non-compliance with S.O.N’s Conformity Assessment Programme and forging of the its logo, mark of quality and certification number.

Justice Onyetenu later adjourned the case till March 10, 2021, for hearing of the defendant’s bail application.

The accused is to be remanded at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ikoyi Lagos.
