The House of Representatives is set to pass for second reading a bill to amend the Constitution to ensure each state is represented by at least a female lawmaker.

Chairperson of the House Committee on Women in Parliament Representative Taiwo Oluga made this known when she received in audience the Legal Defence and Assistance Project, a coalition partner for Advanced Gender Equality in Abuja.

Representative Oluga decried the poor number of women representation in governance and Parliament while noting that the bill will go a long way in solving the problem.

Earlier, the Senior Programme Manager, Advanced Gender Equality, Pamela Okoroigwe said there is need to strategise on ways to increase women representation in government with the Constitution amendment in view.
