The heightening insecurity across states of the Federation is the major reason behind the decision of the upper chamber requesting for the appearance of the Service Chiefs before the senate on Thursday.
This is in response to a resolution by the Senate taken last week.
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan disclosed this as plenary proceedings commenced on Tuesday .
Senator Lawan explained that the Service Chiefs were unable to respond to the initial invitation to appear on tuesday due to a security meeting at the Presidential villa, scheduled to end on Wednesday this week.
Thursday, which is the scheduled date of meeting with the Security chiefs, will afford the Senate the opportunity to also assess the need for a supplementary budget to provide additional funding for the military.
