Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson has been at a polling station in central London to cast his vote in the council elections.
Johnson took his dog Dilyn, a Jack Russell cross, along with him.
Elections are taking place in all four UK nations with polling stations.
In England there are 4,360 seats on 146 councils up for grabs as well as a handful of mayoral elections
More than 1,800 of those seats are in London, where every seat in every borough will be contested
