The Senate Committee on Bureau of Public Enterprises has expressed its displeasure to the absence of the Director General of the BPE, Alex Okoh at the committee hearing on the state of Nigeria’s paper mill industry that held on

Monday 20th July 2020.

The Director General, who sent a representative to the meeting, expressed his apologies to members of the senate committee for his inability to grace the meeting due to a flight delay to Abuja.

The Representative of the Director General, Toibudeen Oduniyi, noted that the BPE is always willing to cooperate with the  senate committee in carrying out its oversight functions especially in ensuring the efficient enforcement of the federal government’s privatization programme.

In spite of this explanation, members of the senate committee did not take  lightly the absence of the DG and decided to reschedule the meeting for Tuesday, urging the DG to make himself available.
