The Federal Executive Council has approved infrastructure projects worth N6.4 billion in some states of
the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
The approvals were given at the cabinet’s 12th virtual meeting on Wednesday. The Lower Usuman dam is a very important project in the Federal Capital Territory supplying potable water to the few privileged areas that enjoy running water.
Its rehabilitation is now in Phase 2 and the cost is being revised from it’s original sum of 1 point 017 billion Naira by N1.5 billion bringing the value of the contract to N2.5 billion.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Works and Housing is looking to revise the estimates of 16 contracts because the cost of materials have altered significantly since 2011 when the projects started.
The contracts relate to the completion of the federal secretariat projects in Anambra, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Osun and Zamfara states.
Revision of the contract sum of all five secretariats adds up to N3. 975 billion while the new contract total is about 17. 5 billion.
Purchase of furniture, for all the secretariats has been completed and the goods in the warehouse are awaiting the completion of the buildings .
