Imo residents decry erosion, faults govt’s negligence

Residents of Trinity church road, Akwakuma community in Owerri North local government area of Imo state have continued to lament over what they describe as negligence on the part of the government to save them from the life-threatening erosion gully that is bedeviling their community for over five years now.

Residents and community leaders who spoke to newsmen said the efforts made by the community to control the menace is not enough and are calling on government to expedite action and save the community as further delay may cause irreparable loss.

The special adviser to Imo state governor on national assembly and ecological matters, Austin Nwachukwu who on behalf of the governor visited the scene noted that the horrible situation and that government will look into their plight.
