The National Youth Council of Nigeria has said the planned nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress is politically motivated.

Both trade unions will hold protests on Monday over the hike in electricity tariff and increase in price of petrol.

At a Press Conference on Thursday, the President of the Youth Council, Solomon Adodo told journalists that the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the twenty nineteen Presidential Election Atiku Abubakar and some unnamed PDP governors were behind the move.

He did not provide any evidence to support this claim.

The NYCN according to him is in full support of the deregulation of the petroleum industry.
