An outbreak of measles has left over thirty children dead in three communities in Abua/Odual Local Government of Rivers State.
The disease was first reported in Amoruto-Kugbo Community, has now spread to Emago-Kugbo and Akani-Kugbo communities.
A community leader in Emago Kugbo,. Levi Marcus, in a telephone interview with Silverbird News 24 correspondent Monica Ogwa said dozens of children are now feared dead following the outbreak.
A youth leader in the community, Edoghotu Sinclear Edwin, has in the meantime, appealed to the Rivers State government to come to the aid of the communities.
The Rivers state ministry of health is yet to comment on the matter.
