The Nigerian Navy Ship NNS Pathfinder has arrested fifty seven suspected oil thieves in the Niger Delta area.
One Mexican and one Ukraine were among the suspects.
The Executive Officer of NNS Pathfinder Captain Adegoke Ebo told journalists that the four ships, barge and two wooden boats, all laden with unspecified illegally refined AGO were arrested within the last two weeks around Onne and Okrika.
Handing over the suspects and the items to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Capt. Adegoke said investigations by the command revealed that the vessels were engaged in illegal operating illegally.
Responding the EFCC, the Commission’s Head of Taskforce, Port Harcourt zone, Samuel Umezurieke said the commission has made tremendous success in the persecution of oil thieves
