The Netherlands’ national team head coach, Ronald Koeman, has been appointed Barcelona head coach on a two-year deal.

The fifty-seven-year-old Dutchman replaces Quique Setien, who was sacked following Barca’s humiliating eight-two defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Koeman, who played for Barcelona for six years and was a member of Johan Cruyff’s legendary ‘Dream Team’, took the job after leaving his role as manager of the Netherlands, which he had held since twenty eighteen.

He won four La Liga titles and scored the club’s winning goal in the nineteen ninety two European Cup final and was the preferred candidate of Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
