The Supreme Court has dismissed the suit filed by a former Governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni on the eligibility to Contest
the 2018 Governorship Election against the incumbent Governor, Kayode Fayemi.
The suit earlier dismissed by both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal sitting in Ado-Ekiti was struck out for
The Apex Court ruled that, “there are rules, and when one have already conceded defeat how on earth would he or she be
contesting that in the court”.
It thereafter awarded a fine of one million naira against the plaintiff, Segun Oni, for a case that lack in merit.
Former Governor Segun Oni came second behind Governor Fayemi in the 12th of May, 2018 Governorship Primary of the All
Progressives Congress, APC contested by thirty-three (33) Aspirants.
