Chief of Army Staff Deploys Troops to Contend IPOB’s Sit-at-Home Order

Chief of Army Staff deploys troops to contend IPOB’s sit-at-home order

Chief of Army Staff Taoreed Lagbaja has ordered troops to reestablish authority over areas where the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) enforce a sit-at-home order in South-East states.

This comes in response to a statement by pro-Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa in Finland, who announced a two-week sit-at-home protest on July 31.

Ekpa argued the order facilitated emancipation but emphasised the protest’s main goal of demanding the immediate release of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

  • Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu declared Ekpa’s announcement illegal and would not be condoned.
