Colombia 2024: Ghana, Cameroon, Morocco Join Nigeria

National junior women’s football teams of Ghana, Cameroon and Morocco have qualified for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final which will be played in Colombia from August 31 to September 22, 2024.

They join Nigeria’s U-20 women’s football team, Falconets who were the first African team to qualify for the competition after edging Burundi 1-0 at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday to go through on 2-0 aggregate.

Ghana’s Black Princesses thrashed Teranga Lionesses of Senegal 5–1 at Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi to qualify on 7-1 aggregate while Morocco despite losing 0-1 to Ethiopia at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa still qualified on 2-1 aggregate courtesy of 2-0 first leg win in Rabat.

Also, Cameroon’s junior Lionesses in spite playing out a 1-1 draw in Douala, relied on the 4-2 away victory against Egypt to qualify on 5-3 aggregate.

The four countries Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Morocco have therefore qualified to represent Africa in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup final later in the year.
