I Won’t Beg For My Freedom- Nnamdi Kanu

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has informed the federal government that he will not beg for his release after being cleared of all charges by Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court.

This was stated in a letter from Kanu’s lead attorney, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, dated August 25, 2023.

Ozekhome had expressed worry about the appalling state of Kanu’s detention facility when it was in the Department of State Services’ care.

The attorney asked the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court to appoint a magistrate to inspect the detention facility.

Kanu claims that pleading for his release at this time will be disrespectful to the memory of the late Pa Mbazulike Amechi, who despite his advanced age and failing health made numerous trips from the south-east to Abuja, pleading with the Federal Government to honour his dying wish, which was treated with the greatest disdain and was also not honoured.
