National Population; President Tinubu Swears In Commissioners

President Bola Tinubu has administered the oath of office to seventeen commissioners of the National Population Commission. This was due to the powers vested in him by Section 154, Subsection 1 of the 1999 constitution. The nominees were screened by the Committee on Identity Card and Population before their eventual confirmation by the Senate.

After being sworn in, the Chairman of the Commission, Nasir Isa-Kwarra, told State House correspondents that the capacity of the National Population Commission has been enhanced ahead of a planned national census.

The swearing-in ceremony took place before the commencement of this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting, which was chaired by President Bola Tinubu. The meeting was held inside the council chambers of the Presidential Villa.
