Nigeria’s total debt hits 49.85trn in March 2023 – DMO

The Debt Management Office said on Sunday that the Nigeria’s total foreign debt has increased from N46.25 trillion to N49.85 trillion ($108.30 billion) as of March 31, 2023.

According to the office, this represents the overall public debt, including the Federal Government, 36 states, and the Federal Capital Territory.

“Starting in June 2023, N22.719 trillion in securitized loans will be considered domestic debt held by the federal government,’ it noted.
