NLC, TUC Against Subsidy Removal

The Nigeria Labour Congress Ekiti state chapter and its counterpart Trade Union Congress has advised federal government and the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu to tread with caution on the subsidy policy in order not to further plunge the nation into economic problems.

The two chairmen, Kolapo Olatunde and Sola Adigun, spoke in Ado-Ekiti at a press conference to kick off activities marking the 2023 Workers’ Day celebration, with the theme, ‘Workers’ Rights and Socioeconomic Justice.

Kolapo Said if subsidy is removed the minimum wage can never be N30,000 again as the NLC will not take anything less than N100,000.

Meanwhile Sola Adigun of Tuc said that the labour leaders would not accept the removal without government doing the right thing by ensuring the optimal functionality of the nation’s refineries.
