Plateau ALGON Condemns Local Govt Chairmen Suspension In The State

Local council chairmen in Plateau State under the aegis of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria said the state House of Assembly have no constitutional right to suspend the 17 local council chairmen in the state.

The suspension follows a recommendation to the state government by the state House of Assembly to suspend the chairmen to pave the way for investigatingĀ  the records of their income and expenditure to the house.

ALGON chairman in the state, Miskoon Alexander at a press conference in Jos said there is a procedure to be taken for dissolving local council chairmen if need be.

He described their removal as unconstitutional adding that they remain the authentic chairmen of local Councils in the state pending the court decision.
