Ogun police arrest 116 suspected cultists

The Ogun State Police Command, at the weekend, arrested 116 alleged members of the ‘Aye’ cult in the Ifo area of the state.

The cultists, 70 males and 46 females, who are members of the Aye Confraternity, were arrested by the command’s Anti-Cultism Squad at a hotel on Ibogun Road.

In a statement, the command claimed that the police obtained a security report on the local cultists’ activities and that they would be holding their initiation and anniversary rituals soon.

The Anti-Cultism Squad was dispatched to the area in response to the report, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Items recovered from them include four axes, seven cutlasses, anniversary invitation cards, banners, illicit drugs, and cannabis.
