Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed all political appointees in his government to prepare their handover notes and submit to the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office not later than Friday May 26, 2023.

He also asked them to return all government property in their care to the accounting officers, most senior officials in their ministries, agencies and departments as tenure ends on Friday May 26, 2023.

This was contained in a circular signed by the state Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, a copy of which was made available to Echonews.

The circular says that all commissioners, special advisers, personal assistants, technical assistants, (cabinet and non-cabinet) members in the outgoing administration should prepare their handover notes and give a copy to the Permanent Secretary Cabinet Office not later than Friday

It also directed them to return all government property, including utility vehicles in their custody to their unit and ministries accounting officers and directors.

However, the directive does not affect office holders whose appointments are tenure-based and came through legislation. This includes members of statutory commission, governing council and others.
