Niger coup: ECOWAS leaders meet at Aso Rock Villa
The ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government is holding an extraordinary meeting at the State House in Abuja to address the events in the Niger Republic.
The ECOWAS Authority Chairman and President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, called the meeting on Sunday at 12:58 p.m.
It happens four days after Muhammed Bazoum’s government in Nigerien was overthrown by a military coup.
General Abdourahamane Tchiani was officially sworn in as the new leader of the country on Friday by members of the Niger’s Presidential Guard, who carried out the coup.
