Alleged N109M Fraud: Court Revokes Ex-Accountant General’s Co-defendant’s Bail

The Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting at Maitama in Abuja has revoked the bail earlier granted to Geoffrey Akindele one of the defendants in the trial of a former Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris for an alleged 109.5 million naira fraud.

The defendant, Geoffrey Akindele’s bail was revoked by Justice Yusuf Halilu following his non-appearance in court for a continuation of trial within trial.

When the case was called the trial judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu observed that only Idris and Usman were in court, prompting him to ask the counsel for the defendant about Akindele’s whereabouts.

Not satisfied with the response of Akindele’s counsel, justice Halilu revoked his bail and ordered the Commissioner of Police in the FCT and the prosecuting agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to arrest Akindele and produce him in court on the next adjourned date.
