With less than six days to the closure of INEC nomination portal for the governorship election in Edo state, only six political parties have so far submitted the names of their candidates to the commission.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure at the first regular quarterly meeting between the Commission and political parties in Abuja.
He stressed that the portal which opened on March 4, will automatically shut down at 6pm on Saturday March 24.
On Ondo governorship election, Professor Yakubu, said 16 out of 19 political parties have so far indicated interest.
On his part, National Chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yusuf Dantalle said political parties will be proactive in ensuring that the Edo and Ondo States governorship elections meet the expectations of Nigerians and the international community.
