FG evacuates 161 Nigerians stranded in Libya

The Federal Government, in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration, on Tuesday, evacuated 161 Nigerian migrants stranded in Libya.

The purpose of the voluntary humanitarian repatriation effort, according to Ambassador Kabiru Musa, Chargé d’Affaires En Titre of the Nigerian Mission in Libya, was to make sure that Nigerian migrants were not stranded abroad.

Beyond repatriation, he continued, the mission had been working with relevant agencies to raise Nigerians’ awareness of the dangers of irregular migration, which included forced labour, prostitution, and enslavement.

Musa declared that no Nigerian would be left stranded or forgotten in Libyan detention facilities and that the Federal Government would not back down in its efforts.
