FG unveils programmes for 63rd Independence Day anniversary

The federal government has released the schedule of events for the 63rd-anniversary celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day, with the theme “Nigeria @ 63, Renewed Hope for Unity and Prosperity.”

The programme’s unveiling ceremony was organised in Abuja on September 25 by the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

He stressed that President Bola Tinubu has approved a low-key celebration this year due to the current economic circumstances.

Akume, however, reassured Nigerians that the government is collaborating with pertinent parties, including organised labour, to aid all citizens.

Speaking about the schedule for the 63rd anniversary of Independence Day, Akume stated that the activities begin on Sunday, October 1, with President Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast of the world press conference.
