Naira Abuse: Cubana Gets N10m Bail

A socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the Naira.

He was brought before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos on three counts of violating the Central Bank Act of 2007 by allegedly spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at a social event.

Cubana Chief Priest was accused of spraying the Naira on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel during a social event.

According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Cubana Chief Priest was dancing when he allegedly tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 notes issued by the CBN by spraying them for two hours.

Subsequently, the court granted him N10m bail with two sureties in like sum.

The matter has been adjourned till May 2, for commencement of trial
