Tinubu would have lost election if Buhari had removed fuel subsidy- Garba Shehu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would have lost the February 28,2023 election if former president Muhammadu Buhari had removed fuel subsidy.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu has said this.
He said that his boss was unable to end the fuel subsidy during his final days in power so as not to jeopardise the chances of the All Progressives Congress in the presidential election.
According to Shehu, former president Buhari was in a precarious position as polls showed the party would have been thrown out of office if the new Petroleum Industry Act was passed.
He stated that those who questioned Buhari’s decision should have addressed their concerns to the current administration’s ruling APC rather than the outgoing leader.
