by Silverbird News24

Bolanle’s love for Fuji music was unnoticed until the demise of her brother who was a strong fan of King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, Kwam One.

Popularly known as Alexes Promotions, Dr (Mrs) Bolanle Olatise took up the gauntlet in 2019 to stage a Fuji concert for KWAM one in the United Kingdom.

Her idea of promoting KWAM 1 is not just about money making but also the exhibition of the Yoruba tradition to the diaspora, she told a team of selected journalists in her home at Oduduwa Way, GRA, Ikeja.

“Alhaji KWAM 1 has been tremendously blessed. He does not entertain people strictly for money anymore. As a matter of fact, he does not cherish the idea of pasting money on his head. He is in the class of his own and whosoever that we promote him must not just be an ordinary person,” she said.

Olatise explained that it is a privilege to be KWAM 1 promoter and that since she started the business with the legend on 2019, the relationship had been so smooth.

“Expectedly, there will always be a few disagreements in business but KWAM 1 is more than just a business partner to me. He is like a daddy to me and a mentor. He is a straight forward person who will not break rules of or agreement,’ she stated.

Olatise described all KWAM 1 shows in the UK as sellout and that she is planning a bigger one for October 1, Nigeria Independence Day where creme de la creme in the United Kingdom will be entertained by KWAM 1.

“I’m a socialite even though, I have a lot of businesses that keep me awake everyday. I only sleep for four hours out of the 24 hours due to my busy schedule but then I enjoy myself with good music. I’m a lover of music and to be precise KWAM 1 fan,” she said.

She told journalists that her team is planning “Fuji Festival” in the United Kingdom where all Fuji musicians around the world will assemble to exhibit their creativities. “This is in the pipeline and it’s going to be massive. I’m from Ibadan and you know what that means. We will ensure that the Fuji Festival is well organised for the world to see the best of Yoruba tradition and how Fuji has grown to become an international music.”

Asked if she has the intention of promoting another Fuji star now or in the future, Olatise declined the idea, adding that she would only stick to KWAM 1 whom she said had become part of her family.

“Alhaji understands me so much and I do too. We just spoke on phone for hours now before I came down for this interview. Mayegun of Yoruba land comes to the UK on invitation by some other organisations not just as a Fuji star but also as a resource person to educate the world on music. How many musicians can do that. And when he is coming for a concert, he comes fully with his band. How many promoters can sort out Visa issues with all the members of the band that we do.

As for KWAM 1, he is  Canadian citizen and does not need work permit to enter UK but we have to perfect all the documents of his band members because Mayegun does not like anything illegal,” Olatise said.
