Human trafficking: NAPTIP secures 631 convictions; extradites high-profile traffickers

The Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Dr Fatima Waziri-Azi, said yesterday in Lagos that the organisation had secured 631 convictions in its fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.

Two prominent foreign-based international people traffickers were among those found guilty.

She revealed this at the start of a two-day course organised by the agency and the Canadian government for its Public Relations and Public Enlightenment Officers.

The DG revealed that out of the total, 80 convictions were secured in 2022 and 55 between January and October 18, 2023, marking the pinnacle of the agency’s accomplishments.
