None of the three witnesses of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was present as the commission began the defence of the February 25 presidential election at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja on Monday.

INEC lead counsel Abubakar Balarabe Mahmood had notified the court of his intention to summon three witnesses to refute the claims made by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi.

However, none of the witnesses were present due to domestic issues, and the senior attorney requested an adjournment and urged the court to be patient.

Dr Livy Uzuoku, SAN, Obi’s lead attorney, expressed shock and surprise at the INEC attorney’s behaviour.
