President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday described the Dangote Petroleum Refinery  as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s economy and a game changer for the downstream petroleum products market in the entire African region.

He said this during the inauguration of the refinery, which according to him will allow Nigeria to become self-sufficient in refined products and even have a surplus for export.

The President encouraged other entrepreneurs to follow Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s lead in promoting economic growth and achieving Nigeria’s economic potential by praising his leadership in bringing the 650,000 barrels per day refinery into operation.

He emphasized the necessity for African nations to cooperate, integrate their economies, remove trade barriers, and mobilize their populations to realize Agenda 2063 for the prosperity of the continent.

Present at the event were Heads of State from Ghana, Togo, Niger, Senegal, and a representative of the President of Chad.
